SUMMARY

The MESH is a brain-enhancing implant that allows the user in to a virtual reality world to create a connected mind network with other users. Its development over the past decade has caused major disruptions for hostile groups in power and has spurred the Transhumanist movement to new heights.

DETAILS

The MESH is a virtual world that was created with an illegal version of NeuroMesh technology and amplified with the drug Sentia. It functions as a super computing network that physically connects the brains of each of the member “nodes" to one another. Users connect to the network through a modified and illegal version of the NeuroMesh brain interface technology. Once connected, a user can control the amount of their brain's computational power that can be used to power the network. And a complex organizational structure and permissions systems determines how the computational power of the system is used. As the system is built out, it creates what is essentially a hive mind of the connected users.

Common uses

For the most part the MESH is utilized for the following purposes:

• Improving the MESH’s technology by increasing computational potential and optimizing the user experience.
• Improving the quality of life of its members by allowing connection with other members and helping make informed decisions.
• Ensuring the survival of the MESH.

As a result the community has rapidly evolved the technology in a short period of time making the network one of the most powerful computers ever developed. And it has been celebrated by members for its ability to bring huge improvements to their quality of life.

Some of the projects that the MESH has created include:

• A cancer screening system that has proved twice as accurate as any product on the market and a revolutionary cancer treatment process powered by the host's own body.
• A global strategic foresight security system for their members that is said to rival that of the Mirror and LifePath. There have been rumours that through the MESH some members have been able to achieve true time travel.

For 90% of members the experience of joining the MESH doesn’t have any noticeable effect. The MESH device captures information from local devices regarding the state of their environment and utilizes a preset amount of their brain power to power the software. They can view the MESH interface using a standard peripheral device or choose to receive messages directly to their “Mind's Eye.”

For more advanced users, the MESH allows them to access powers well beyond which would be available to them on their own. Utilizing these full capabilities is when the MESH reaches its full potential as a hive mind. This includes the ability to use Psychic Link: a mechanism that establishes a connection between minds either for the purpose of communicating in a more direct manner or to help coordinate the collective actions around a singular activity. The MESH can also devote a portion of its collective energy to the task of helping individuals or groups within the network overcome obstacles, giving them temporary "super powers".

The MESH has been talked about as a potential replacement to LifePath which has been criticized as far too corporatized and seen as suspicious for its data harvesting practices.
